“Jerry accepted me, and now I have a roof over my head, I have food in my belly, I have clothes on my back, and I have a future in store for me.”

If James hadn’t been accepted to Soteria 2 days before he got out of prison, he would have experienced homelessness.

He lost his wife four years ago, and his father passed away while he was incarcerated, leaving him with no family in Greenville. At Soteria, he now has an opportunity to transform his life with resources, a plan, and a support system.

James has noticed the need for Reentry Programs after incarceration that give people an opportunity to succeed. Grateful for our founder, Jerry, and Soteria, he said the staff is “focusing on you having a better life, and giving you every chance in the world.”

While he was in prison, James’ teeth were knocked out. He was grateful to hear about Soteria’s partnership with a local dentist to provide dentures at a rate he can afford. The support he received on the first few days from the staff such as financial advice and resume building has made him confident that he’ll never go back to prison.

James loves skateboarding, snowboarding, and carpentry, and plans to take every opportunity he has to get him back to his work as an industrial electrician.
