Soteria at Work: Reclaiming Wood, Reclaiming Lives

OUR MISSION

SOTERIA AT WORK's mission is to provide transitional job opportunities to people who face significant obstacles to employment. It includes countywide deconstruction and reclamation services that contribute to sustainability within the community.

Creating Opportunities

SOTERIA Means Salvation

Individuals face significant obstacles upon release from prison. Only 40% find jobs within 12 months of their release. 50% are rearrested within 12 months of release, and 67% within 36 months.* Without the option of gainful employment, old habits resurface. SOTERIA AT WORK gives men the opportunity to reclaim their lives as they build job skills and rejoin the workforce.

To work for us, men must apply for transitional housing through our umbrella company Soteria CDC's housing program at least six months prior to their release. The application includes an essay on long term goals and requires a referral by either a Chaplain, Caseworker or a Probation/Parole agent.

Once accepted, previously incarcerated individuals receive both housing and job training which gives them the opportunity to start over. Through their woodworking, they get a second chance at entering society as productive, contributing citizens.
